Get to Know Dr. Dianna Cortese
Dr. Dianna Cortese DDS, (just called “Dr. D” by her patients) has a passion for helping people achieve the highest level of health and wellness possible, and she has dedicated her career to serving those who have been diagnosed with cancer. She combines her experience in conventional dentistry, holistic dentistry, oral medicine, dental, & oncology to offer patients in need a more complete treatment approach. Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. D graduated from the NYU College of Dentistry with Honors in Oral Medicine and Pathology, and she was the recipient of the American Academy of Oral Medicine Award. “Oral Medicine” is defined as the discipline of dentistry that is focused on the oral health management of medically complex patients, which includes the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions that affect the oral cavity/maxillofacial area.
She completed her general practice residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. Dr. D also trained in a major cancer hospital in the Dental Oncology Department and worked exclusively with cancer patients to address their dental needs with a focus on analyzing cancer research.
Additional Awards, Honors & Certifications
- Top Dentist for Women in Medicine:Women in Medicine recognizes women physicians and educators who are changing the medical world through their lives, teaching, and work.
- Honors in Oral Medicine and Pathology: D completed the Senior Honors Program in Oral Medicine and Pathology at the NYU College of Dentistry.
- The Science of Well-Being Certification: This certification is awarded after the completion of Yale University’s course on the science of happiness and how to incorporate methods of well-being into our lives.
- IAOMT Smart Certification: D is a member of the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology. Through the IAOMT, she is SMART Certified (Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique), meaning that she is up to date on the latest research about silver dental fillings and takes proper precautions for her staff and patients when removing them. Dr. D volunteers as a member of the IAOMT’s Science Committee where she reviews and evaluates the most recent literature and research in biological dentistry.
